On the island, you’ll find a wide variety of culinary specialities.
From Breton crêpes to traditional cuisine, not to mention local Ouessant specialities and even Asian dishes, there’s something for everyone!
You can also grab a quick lunch at a brasserie, pick up a takeaway pizza, or even put together your own picnic at one of the island’s mini-markets.
A few words about Ouessant’s culinary specialities…
Don’t leave Ouessant without trying the lamb stew cooked in peat mounds or the ‘chilgik’ (Ouessant sausage), smoked in peat mounds.
What is cooking in peat mounds? It involves stewing food in peat mounds. The peat clods used are those found in the moorland on the island.
Seating in the island’s restaurants is limited. We strongly advise you to book before arriving on the island.
