The Lighthouse Route

Ambassadors of the Lighthouse Route

BreizhGo Penn Ar Bed is proud to be an ambassador for La Route des Phares in partnership with Brest Terres Océanes.

The lighthouses, these legendary monuments that dominate the Iroise Sea and have guided sailors for decades, arouse curiosity and admiration in those who see them.

Whether real or virtual, you will remember these offshore excursions.

Boat trip to the foot of the Kéréon lighthouse

This summer, set sail every Sunday from 6 July to 1 September and discover the Kéréon lighthouse, departing from Molène.

From Brest or Le Conquet, cast off for a crossing aboard one of the Penn Ar Bed ships to Molène.

In the early afternoon, meet at the jetty near the ferry terminal for a 90-minute boat trip into the heart of the archipelago—a Biosphere Reserve—to Kéréon Lighthouse, aboard Archipel Excursions’ RIB. Dating from the early 20th century and nicknamed “the Palace” due to its inlaid wooden floor, Kéréon was the last monumental lighthouse to be built at sea. Take the time to enjoy the trip and admire the scenery. Let yourself be guided by your enthusiastic guide, a true connoisseur of maritime heritage.

Boat trip to the foot of Armen Lighthouse

During spring and summer weekends, in collaboration with the BreizhGo Penn Ar Bed Maritime Company, Archipel Excursions offers a discovery trip to the legendary Armen lighthouse, departing from the island of Sein.

From Audierne, cast off for a one-hour crossing aboard the Enez Sun. During your trip, admire the Pointe du Raz, the Vieille lighthouse, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Iroise Sea.

When you arrive on the island of Sein, don’t miss the Sea Rescue Museum, and lose yourself in the maze of flower-filled alleyways. Discover the island’s treasures, including St Corentin Chapel, Goulenez Lighthouse and the Free French Monument.

In the early afternoon, head to Men Brial for a 90-minute boat trip along the Chaussée de Sein to the Armen lighthouse, aboard Archipel Excursions’ RIB. Take the time to enjoy the trip and admire the scenery. Let yourself be guided by your enthusiastic guide, who is a connoisseur of maritime heritage. During your trip, you may be lucky enough to spot grey seals.

The Lighthouse Route with Brest Terres Océanes

More than 70 lighthouses are listed as historic monuments in France, and three-quarters of them are located in Brittany. The largest number can be found off the coast of Finistère, where these historic giants form a vital part of Brittany’s cultural heritage.

The Brest Terres Océanes region stretches from the Crozon Peninsula to the Côte des Légendes. Here you can explore 20 exceptional lighthouses. Architectural masterpieces by day and powerful, reassuring beacons by night, Brittany’s lighthouses are strategically positioned along the coast or out at sea on dangerous, jutting rocks.

Once manned by keepers, lighthouses are now all automated, but it is still possible to visit six of these listed buildings:

  • The lighthouse on Île Vierge in Plouguerneau
  • The Saint Mathieu lighthouse in Plougonvelin
  • The Stiff Lighthouse on Ouessant
  • The Trézien lighthouse in Plouarzel
  • The Minou Lighthouse in Plouzané
  • The Kermorvan Lighthouse in Le Conquet
