If you’re looking for somewhere to have lunch on the island, you can of course bring a picnic;
There’s also a mini-market and a chip shop in the harbour, open all year round, as well as a few restaurants and a crêperie, open from April to the end of October – the perfect chance to try the local speciality, ‘Skreo’, a crêpe topped with Molène sausage…
There’s something for everyone!
A few words about Molène’s culinary specialities…
Molène sausage is a traditional culinary speciality, invented and still occasionally prepared today on the island of Molène. Its distinctive feature is that it is smoked using seaweed. The pork is cut by hand rather than minced. The smoking process (which takes around 5 hours) takes place in a chimney. This lengthy smoking process gives it a very briny flavour.
Molène Sausage is available at Les Fumaisons d’Iroise.
